100% greenplate: Sustainability and Supply Chain Reliability at PAWI
At our production sites in Singen and Winterthur, we are fully committed to using the greenplate carrier board from Marbach. This decision reflects not only our strong environmental responsibility but also a strategic move to secure consistent supply and production stability in an increasingly unpredictable raw materials market.

Why greenplate?
Unlike traditional carrier boards made entirely from birch plywood, greenplate consists of 70% eco-friendly secondary materials. Its core – the marbacore fiber core – is made from recycled wood waste. Only the outer layers are made of birch veneer, which reduces the overall birch content to just 30%.
This makes us far less dependent on sensitive raw materials markets, helps preserve birch forests, and ensures long-term material availability – a major advantage in today’s market conditions.
Strong technical performance
greenplate delivers not only on sustainability but also on performance, offering:
- Excellent flatness
- High pressure resistance
- Tight dimensional tolerances
- Smooth surface – ideal for embossing and Braille
- Exceptional storage stability
These features ensure consistent production quality and high repeatability – essential for reliable, day-to-day manufacturing.
A clear statement of sustainability
By switching entirely to greenplate at both of our production facilities, we’re taking a strong step toward environmentally responsible packaging production. We’re actively reducing the need to harvest birch wood and supporting the circular economy by using more recycled material.
