Production of foil-free cake underlays
As a business, we attach great importance to our responsibility towards the environment. That is why we are actively committed to protecting natural resources. As part of our comprehensive sustainability strategy, we aim to continuously optimise the production of our packaging. We use efficient processes and technologies to promote more environmentally friendly materials.

In March 2023, we switched the production of our white cake underlays to coated, unbleached kraft cardboard made from virgin fibres. We can save around 30 tons of cardboard with the use of this lighter material. We are also using a food-safe, low-migration, grease- and water-repellent barrier coating, which saves around 4.8 tons of plastic coating. This leads to a reduction in transport weight and therefore to less CO2 emissions.

The current stock of white cake underlays will be gradually changed over. Our valued clients will be able to identify the new sustainable cake underlays due to an enclosed flyer or a label attached to the sales unit (only available in German and French).
