Guylian relies on sustainable cardboard inserts for praline packaging
The Chocolaterie Guylian from Belgium is taking a groundbreaking step towards sustainability. For its premium pralines, the renowned manufacturer now uses eco-friendly PAWI Ecoflex cardboard inserts. Until now, these essential components in production were almost exclusively made of plastic. With this new solution, Guylian combines functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.
Growing demand and high requirements
In recent years, the demand for sustainable packaging has increased significantly. As a result, more and more everyday items and consumer goods are gradually being replaced with more environmentally friendly alternatives. Packaging for chocolates is no exception.
We convinced the Chocolaterie Guylian as the first major manufacturer to adopt this new solution. Meeting the requirements for the cardboard insert was challenging. The existing packaging could not be changed. The insert had to be easy to use while ensuring a secure production process.
Sustainability, quality, and design of the cardboard inlays
FSC®-certified cardboard and paper make up the inserts. They are biodegradable, and completely free of plastic. The integrated height connection inside keeps the pralines stable at all times. In addition, the high-quality appearance creates an elegant presentation. The pralines lie nestled like in a soft cushion and are ready to be enjoyed.
Moreover, using paper and cardboard opens up new possibilities for color design. For Guylian, a sophisticated brown tone was chosen that perfectly complements the content. As a result, the new packaging with the PAWI Ecoflex cardboard insert combines sustainability, functionality, and premium aesthetics in a unique overall experience. It positions Guylian as a pioneer in sustainable chocolate packaging in Belgium.
