Returnable boxes for transport and storage
For recurring transport and storage processes, we are increasingly using returnable boxes. By using them multiple times, we reduce the need for single-use corrugated transport boxes in the relevant logistics processes. At the same time, the boxes meet our hygiene and product protection requirements.
Returnable boxes in a closed-loop system
Within an organised reusable system, the containers are used multiple times, professionally cleaned and returned to the cycle. This reduces the need for single-use corrugated transport boxes and the associated packaging waste.
At the same time, our products remain reliably protected during storage and transport.
From pilot project to broader implementation
The use of returnable boxes was initially tested as part of a pilot project. The system proved effective. We are therefore now examining how the reusable containers can be appropriately integrated into additional processes across our sites.
For us, this is another concrete step towards greater sustainability – not as an isolated measure, but as part of various improvements along our entire value chain, from production and storage to transport.
Further environmental measures at PAWI
Reusable boxes are a concrete measure to reduce single-use material in our logistics operations. We regularly publish further environmental measures, targets and key figures in our environmental report.
