Sustainable energy supply with hydropower and district heating
Sustainability is not only reflected in the materials we use, but also in the way our packaging is produced. That is why we rely on a sustainable energy supply with 100% hydropower and district heating at our Winterthur site.
This enables us to significantly reduce the use of fossil energy and make our packaging production more resource-efficient step by step.
100% hydropower for our electricity needs
For our production in Winterthur, we use electricity from 100% hydropower. This renewable energy source helps us make our processes more reliable, efficient and sustainable.
A stable energy supply is essential in the production of paper and board packaging. By using hydropower, we rely on renewable electricity that reflects our approach: producing packaging responsibly, efficiently and with the future in mind.
District heating instead of fossil fuels
Since 2024, our Winterthur site has been connected to the city’s district heating network. As a result, we have been able to fully replace our previous heat supply based on fossil fuels.
This change is an important step in our climate strategy. By using district heating, we save around 141,000 kg of CO₂ every year. At the same time, we are making a concrete contribution to the City of Winterthur’s climate target of reaching net zero by 2040.
